STAINED GLASS wall, window and ceiling decor is beautiful and can be done as a hobby. Those who make it their livelihood know the multiple tools, kilns, materials and hundreds of types of glass required for Fine Art for churches, commercial buildings and homes. Stained glass prices range from $4.00 to $500.00 a sq. foot. Hundreds of different glass textures, colors, thicknesses, iridescence, etc. are used by the artist to show water flow, clouds, sky, folds in clothing, etc. Professionally it truly is an art as lead or copper foil line each glass piece, with steel or brass structure supports factored in for stability holding the glass pieces in place. Techniques such as painting and firing at approximately l250-l760 degrees, carving ,blasting, gilding, and blowing are all part of the techniques possible to produce a beautiful wall or piece of art. Knowledge of back lighting or light rays is also essential in showing the beauty of stained glass. Placement of stained glass pieces on light painted walls also creates beautiful home decor.
