What Gloria Dei Is And What It Isn't

Gloria Dei is not a building
made of bricks and wood,
Nor is it a mere organization
noted for its doing good.
It exists not to raise money
or make the numbers grow.
It is not a social club
where members come and go.
Gloria Dei is God's Holy Family
bought with Christ's precious blood.
Where sinners come to be forgiven
in Calvary's crimson flood.
Created by the Love of God
the family loves one another
That words like “race and clan”
give way to “sister and brother.”
Sometimes the family is gathered,
sometimes it is in the world;
But we are bound together by
the Banner of Christ unfurled.
